Last updated 23 October 2026

In short:

  • Penlet has no account, no analytics and no ads.
  • Your documents, profile and signature are stored only in the app on your phone. They are never uploaded to us.
  • We do not collect personal data through the app.
  • Purchases in the Google Play version are handled by Google. We never see your payment details.

Who we are

Penlet is an Android app developed by D. Solberg in Norway. For privacy questions, email hei@penlet.app.

What is stored on your phone

This is kept in the app’s private storage on your phone. Other apps can’t access it, and we never receive it.

WhatWhy
My profile: name, address, postcode, town, phone and emailOptional. Used only when you add the details to a document yourself.
Saved signatureOptional. Placed only when you tap it.
DraftsWhat you’ve added to a document, so it isn’t lost before you save.
Scanned documentsThe pages you’ve scanned, until you delete them.
Recently opened files and text suggestionsSo you can find documents again and don’t have to type the same thing twice.
Number of free saves usedTo know when the two free saves have been used.

This data is excluded from Android’s cloud backup and from transfer to a new phone. Temporary files, such as a copy about to be shared, are kept in the app’s cache.

How to delete everything: Choose “Delete all my data” in the app. Your profile, signature, drafts, scanned documents, text suggestions and the list of recent files are then deleted from the phone. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Documents you have already saved or shared are not affected.

Your documents

Penlet reads the PDF where it is and never changes the original file. When you save, you choose where the new PDF goes. When you share, you choose the recipient in Android’s share menu. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you ask for it.

Permissions

Penlet does not ask for access to your camera, location, contacts or all your files. You pick files and images in Android’s own pickers, and the app only gets access to what you pick.

Services from Google

Google’s document scanner

“Scan document” and “Scan signature on paper” use Google’s document scanner, which runs in Google Play services on your phone. The images are processed on the phone and are not sent to us. Google may collect technical information about how the scanner performs, such as speed and errors, under Google’s privacy policy.

Purchases on Google Play

In the Google Play version, you buy unlimited saving and sharing through Google Play. Google processes the payment. The app is only told that the purchase went through, so saving and sharing can be unlocked. We never receive your card number or other payment details. That is why this version has internet access.

Crash reports

If you have chosen to share diagnostic data with Google on your phone, Google Play may give us anonymous crash and performance reports. They do not contain your documents or the details you entered.

When you contact us

If you email us, we use your email address only to reply. If you sign up as a tester, we add your email address to the tester list in Google Play Console so you can join the test. We delete the email and remove you from the tester list when you ask us to, or when we no longer need it.

The penlet.app website

The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party content. The fonts are served from our own server. The provider hosting the website may record technical information such as IP addresses in server logs, for operation and security.

Children

Penlet is not made for children under 13. The app does not collect information about anyone.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete information we hold about you. Since the app sends no information to us, we usually only hold emails you have sent. If you believe we process information unlawfully, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet, or the authority where you live.

Changes

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
